secret cinema – blade runner
they did it again, even bigger and better than ever… secret cinema present blade runner, complete with air hostesses, violent dwarfs, snakes, sushi, strippers, teen thugs n dubstep, chrome hoof, epic set dressing and actors pre-programmed to mess with your brain. its fast becoming my favorite job to shoot on, these pictures explain why
why music matters
the launch of an industry wide initiative to remind listeners of the intrinsic value of music, why music matters launched at the curzon soho, screening 6 shorts about legendary musicians including john martyn, kate bush and nick cave. later that night we sojourned to cargo where future cinema hosted an event featuring shingai from the noisettes and graham coxon from blur duetting, followed by graham soundtracking a selection of short films. erland and the carnival also played….

wings of desire – secret cinema
angels and east germans patrolled shepherds bush green last night as secret cinema brought wim wenders’ wings of desire to life in the elegantly dilapidated pavilion cinema. the hi-light for me was the trapeze and rope artists, so neatly synced with on-screen action, throwing graceful shadows onto peeling paint.
alien
i was honored to be the official photog for the halloween secret cinema event, in a huge warehouse themed to the interior of the ‘nostromo’ – the ship from alien. loads of aliens running around, plus ripley and her crew getting attacked and infected. wicked. ridley scott introduced the film (via video link) and warp record’s tim exile performed (in a spacesuit) to finish off the evening. spooky… more here

fishtank fest
i was invited by vahakn to shoot some pictures of ‘the pack’ a sculptural design thing featuring horses (quadrepeds) and along the way some people span around on the floor and girls got their pants out. word

curatorial glow
in march i co-curated an exhibition in westbourne park. heres some insight into how to put together a world class art show.

alice alice alice
took me a while (since march) to get these done but its some of my favourite work – alice in wonderland @ pentameters theatre; hypercolourful fantastical play/installation.

new website/new exhibition!
i have a new website to promote my professional events and weddings work, im available for bookings and commisions… click here to visit www.mikemassaro.co.uk
ive also got an exhibition on now at the everyman cinema running throughout june, a showcase of my recent work 08/09. its open midday – 11pm every day in june – click here for a map of where it is….

i do wonder
im in a play! not so much of an actor, but i guess i am a little unhinged. So the March Hare in Alice in Wonderland suits me just fine. Heres some headshots for promotion…

details leftover
another leftovers on the stage performance in pentameters hampstead, raising money for the forthcoming alice in wonderland installation based theatre performance art type show, starring amongst others… me! as the mad march hare. which means i get to spend 10 hours a week in rehearsal acting like a loon. pretty average stuff for me, its my natural demeanour.
anyhow, i decided to focus on the little things in this performance and sit in one place for the whole thing, bit of a ’single perspective’ type thing…

stupid stupid stupid
i slid down to greenpeace hq in canonbury last friday along with a team of volunteers from award winning charity envision, to help out stitching coffee bean sacks together for decoration of the (near carbon neutral) leicester square premiere of the climate change film the age of stupid. we then went on a little mission in a chipfat fuelled peugot to a chippy (to get the oil) then to the refinery (to swap it for clean stuff), then finally to leicester square for a little flyering to promote awareness about the film and the following not stupid action campaign…

leftovers in the gallery
Last week i (along with george henriques and alice old) curated, promoted and exhibited in a showcase exhibition of 10 leftovers artists, at the rather swish gallery 118 in westbourne grove, portobello. Lots of hard work but it paid off by how dam sexy it looked in there. Unfortunately only on for 5 days, its inspired me to do things bigger, better and longer. soon. check out the leftovers website for more pix and artworks from the show

cellar door vaudeville
i rollled on down to this amazing 20’s theme night at last days of decadence in shoreditch wearing a 50’s nylon shirt and bowling cardigan. I dont think anyone noticed coz their eyes were all blinded by flash. check out the cellar door myspace page for details of future frolics…

slumming it
this is from a while ago, i took some photos for a q+a with danny boyle at everyman belsize park during a preview of his new film slumdog millionaire
